We are incredibly excited (and not surprised) that Italo Ferreira gave the new CI 2.Pro model the nod in this year’s Stab in the Dark - making Britt Merrick/CI the first ever 3-time SITD Champ.

 

On the heels of Britt’s win with the CI Pro under Jack Robinson's feet, and because our CT surfers have been ripping on that model, he decided on shaping that same high performance shortboard model for year’s SITD surfer Italo Ferreira. However, because of the expected conditions Stab shared with us, Britt decided on building a version of that CI Pro model that he and Parker Coffin were developing for less cupped out waves that had ¼” less rocker.

Maintaining the goal of ultimate performance, the 2.Pro (pronounced two point pro) introduces added speed via the reduced rocker, making it easier to surf for a wider range of surfers in a greater variety of waves. Having a ¼” less overall rocker compared to the CI Pro, the 2.Pro maintains the same subtle single concave to slight double through the fins allowing the board to sit in the water and create that familiar connected feeling through transitions.  

 

Our experience has been, if someone was a fan of the CI Pro, the 2.Pro enhances their quiver as some team riders will order the 2.Pro for lesser conditions; if someone was intimidated by the CI Pro, the 2.Pro opens up new possibilities to them.
